Palmerston Whole Home Renovation
Steps away from the University of Toronto and the great shopping of Bloor St, this historic home in the Annex had been in the owners family for many decades. Once a doctors house & office, it had been turned into rental units years ago.
Our work saw the restoration of the home to a single family unit. We carefully renovated the existing spaces making sure to preserve the old wood paneling and curved plaster ceilings. The dark, dank basement was transformed into a bright, livable space with polished concrete floors.
With the new renovations complete, this Palmerston Blvd home will continue to stand for decades while serving any family lucky enough to live there.

The existing facade was untouched save for new windows designed to match the old.
The beautiful paneling was meticulously protected during construction.
The existing stairs were refinished and several treads fixed from below so as to maintain the existing structure. An altered doorway to the back required salvaging some old casing in order to make it appear original.
A new custom kitchen was installed using white oak in order to match the existing flooring as closely as possible.
Most rooms on the main floor had curved ceiling-to-wall corners made of brittle plaster. This proved a challenge since the entire house was rewired. Careful cutting and expert drywall patching seamlessly blends old to new.
A new butler pantry was added to provide added storage as well as a home for the fridge.
This second floor bedroom was opened up to create a new lounge area. The old floor boards were carefully matched to avoid obvious patching.
This once-old-kitchen was turned into a sunny office space. Historical windows were refreshed to allow ample ventilation in the warm months.

This bedroom once housed a fireplace as seen by the preserved metal surround.
This under-used closet was turned into a casual workspace in the large second floor landing.
An old bathroom was re-envisioned with a walk-in shower and skylight to bring much needed light.
