CO-FOUNDER

I grew up in Nova Scotia but have called Toronto home for over 25 years. After 8 years trying out life as an actor, I fell into carpentry when I bought my home. I then worked for 15 years for some of Toronto's premiere builders honing my craft as a carpenter, supervisor and project manager. Lighthaus has been the culmination of my work and personal life.

I live with my wife, two kids, and our dog and spend my spare time playing tennis, running, road cycling and downhill skiing. I also bake bread. A lot.

CO-FOUNDER

Originally from a small town just outside of Ottawa, I moved to Toronto to study architecture at the University of Toronto. Spending my summers off working for builders convinced me that my passion for design and my interest in the built environment could find an outlet in residential construction. Building homes for clients is a joy to me and I couldn’t imagine working in any other profession. I love the physical nature of construction and the blend of design, technical and problem solving skills required. That’s not to say that my time at U of T was a complete wrong turn. I met my wife there, and we have twins… a son and a daughter so that all worked out just fine. I don’t have any spare time but when I get some I plan to spend it outside - running, mountain biking or camping!

SITE SUPERVISOR

I grew up on a farm in eastern Ontario, about a half hour north of Cornwall. I had a fairly early interest in carpentry but never anticipated making a career out of it. In my first year at university, I started working for a successful contractor. By the time 2nd year ended I knew I was meant to be a carpenter and pursued an apprenticeship through the company and continued to work for them for the next 15 years.

I met my wife Leah at the age of 28. We bought a 100 year old house in Brooklin, ON, which is a never ending labor of love. Leah gave birth to our son Oscar in 2020 and he is the true joy of our lives.  I joined Lighthaus in November 2022 and couldn’t be happier here.  

When I’m not working chances are you’ll find me at the cottage or playing one of several sports like hockey, baseball, or golf.

LEAD CARPENTER

A carpenter, a writer, an actor, a nurse, a bass guitarist... But for as far as I could remember myself, I was the guy suggesting help with every carpentry project my friends ever had. Why? Because I really enjoyed it! So after moving to Canada I decided to make that useful hobby something bigger than just a weekend fun. Here we go, over a decade of professional carpentry. Still adore and enjoy every single day of that fantastic job.
